First in this rose series

I thought I had posted this previously but it didn't go through.   It was the first attempt - and my favorite to date.   I watched a you tube video on painting roses w oils.   I am using acryllics but trying to get the oil look using only a palette knife.

Home grown. A perfect rose.

My rose bushes are covered in blooms.   This is a favorite.

Letty Navas roses

This is one of Lettys paintings.    She can be found by googleing Nava and Co.

Fresh Roses

This was painted over another abstract background.   Very little shows through.

Green ribbon

Of the tree entries in the juried Spring Art Show at Woodbridge Winery - this is the one that took an honorable mention.    Helen snapped this.

Reworked

This is an old painting that I reworked for my granddaughter.    Good news.  She likes it.

Purple roses

I had an abstract underpainting done with a deep purple, titan buff, naples yellow and red iron oxide.   Thinking it would be interesting to use this as a base for a rose painting - this is the result.

Question of the day

A friend brought this to show and tell.    Now i know what it is.   Do you?

More and more roses

For some reason i had never thought about painting roses before.   But now i have a rose garden in full bloom so am a bit consumed by the maintenance and care they require.    I decided to try to paint them after several people lately have said how diffocult it is to paint them.     They were so right.   It is hard.     But fun.

Im going back to an early painting style i was doing in the 1960s.     Feels good.

More roses

My breakfast painting time this am.

Roses

A new series of acrylics done w palette knife.   Im going for an oil painting look and feel.
