I wake up thinking about art. My passions are light, sunshine, colors. Now that I am retired and no longer spend my daylight hours in the library - I play in my garden and make art in my studio.
My grown family is happy that I am so absorbed and find my retired life so rich and full.
Family, friends, pets, art, plants, music, healthy eating and fresh air. Those are the key ingredients to make my life so satisfying. I use this as a personal journal, so blog is a mixed bag. To see images of my other mixed media works go to http://www.picturetrail.com/artsngardens
I have dozens outdoors and they all survived the snow and cold winter here in the Houston area. Does your friend grow hers outdoors? You might try it. My mom took lots of them to Arizona and has a field of blossoms and won a grand prize purple ribbon on one stalk she entered in the county fair. She still has the stalk in her fridge. She doesn't want it to wilt - ever! They will make seed pods with paper thin seeds and are easy to propagate if you are inclined. Takes a couple of years in the ground before they will send up a flower stalk, though. :Diane
